Sports injuries of the foot and ankle

Sporting injuries of the foot and ankle are extremely common.

They may vary from mild soft tissue injuries to ligament sprains or tears, tendon injuries, cartilage damage or major fractures.

Many minor injuries will settle after a few days of rest, ice and elevation. More severe injuries or injuries not responding to routine measures may require a specially tailored rehabilitation regime, or surgery to repair the damage, to give the best chance of a return to sport. Neglected injuries often cause long term pain and stiffness.

At the Foot and Ankle Centre we have the clinical expertise and state of the art imaging facilities to provide prompt and accurate diagnosis and treatment of the full range of sports injuries of the foot and ankle.

Patients with urgent problems, such as suspected fractures or tendon ruptures, can usually be offered an appointment within twenty-four hours.
